Modern Manners Camps (Columbus Academy 2011 Summer Experience) Modern Manners & Tea Time, Too!
Learning manners is fun – when it’s Modern Manners! We’ll
start each day with a different etiquette topic and learn first-hand how it impacts our lives at home, school and away. This
popular program teaches social and table etiquette in an interactive and entertaining way. You’ll be actor and director
and role-play real-life situations, play games, and enjoy many manners-related activities. In the afternoon we will gather
around the tea table as we enjoy yummy tea fare and drink “pink tea,” just like hundreds of girls do each year
at The Glass Slipper Tearoom! Tea party themes change daily, and may include: Pajama Party, Fancy Nancy, Pretty Princess,
My Doll & Me, Luau, and more. Each day includes fun activities, crafts, stories, games, songs and even some drama activi-“teas.”
We’ll all have a “tea”-rrific time! There will be a field trip to The Glass Slipper Tearoom in
Powell. Teachers: Nora Cline & Stacey Haney Grades: 1- 4 Session:
July 25-29 Time: 9:00am. – 4:00 pm.
My American Girl Doll, Manners, Tea & Me Bring your favorite period (or, look alike) doll and briefly experience what it would
be like to live during that period in history. For instance, we will see what it was like for Kit and Ruthie as they faced
challenges growing up in the 1920’s. We will also learn and discuss how each character doll’s good manners and
character values gained respect and solved problems. How did Chrissa handle the bullies at her school? How did Molly and Emily
learn about friendship and teamwork? Campers and their dolls will learn and practice etiquette, use their imaginations and
discover history with lessons, drama activities, games, songs, and crafts. Of course, there will be a daily tea party where
we will practice our table and tea etiquette just like Felicity and her best friend Elizabeth did! There will be a field
trip to The Glass Slipper Tearoom in Powell. Teachers:
Nora Cline & Stacey Haney Grades: 1- 4 Session: July 18-22 Time: 9:00am. – 4:00 pm.
